With 5+ years of experience in the medical and mental health fields, Dr. Krysten Blackshear is deemed everyone’s “favorite clinical social worker.” An alumnus of Stephen F. Austin State University, where she earned a Master of Social Work degree, Krysten’s commitment to mental health and wellness pushed her to complete her Doctorate to better serve her clients and her community. 

 

Krysten has served a diverse population of clients, including adolescents, young adults, families, and seniors. She is dedicated, fun, knowledgeable, and relatable. The combination of each of these qualities helps her clients to know that with her, they have a safe space to heal and grow. Through education and experience, Krysten can address various issues; however, her specialties include trauma-informed care, cultural/diversity concerns, and understanding family systems. 

 

Krysten’s approach to therapy involves meeting each client where they are, forming a partnership to problem-solve, and walking through life’s challenges. In turn, clients have been able to identify and develop their strengths to realize their inherent resiliency, which she firmly believes supports long-term healing and growth through therapy. Her pledge to each client is that they will walk forward with strength, power, and longevity.
